InboundFaxes
1. TheMediaGatewaysendsaSIPINVITEtooneofthePortServerstoestablishacall.
2. ThePortServerconsultsitslistofConnectionServers–theReceive‐routingGroup.
3. ThePortServercontactsthelowest‐costConnectionServerandpassesitthecall’sdestinationDIDto
determineifthatConnectionServerhasaloggedinaccountwhocantakethecall.Ifnot,orintheevent
ofanerror,thePortServertriesthenextConnectionServerinitslist.
4. Oncetheaccountisfound,theConnectionServernotifiestheaccount’sclientthatit
hasaninboundfax,
andgivesittheaccessURLofthePortServer.
5. TheclientconnectstothePortServer.Theconnectioniscomplete,andthefaxbegins.
6. Uponcompletion,thePortServereitherlogstheCDRrecordtothedatabase,orpassesthatdatabackto
theConnectionServerforittolog.
OutboundFaxes
1. TheclientisalreadyloggedintoaConnectionServer.
2. TheclientsendsarequesttotheConnectionServertosendafaxtoaspecificnumber.
3. TheConnectionServerconsultsitsSendRoutingtabletodeterminewhichPortServertosendthefax.
Onlytherulesbelonging
tothataccount’sRuleGroupareused.Thenumbermaybeblockedifitmatches
ablockrule.
4. Havingmadeitsroutingdecision,theConnectionServergivestheclienttheaccessURLofthePortServer.
Additionally,theConnectionServernotifiesthePortServerthatithasauthorizedthat
particularfax.
5. TheclientconnectstothePortServerandsendsthefax.
6. ThePortServersendsaSIPINVITEtotheMediaGateway.
7. Uponcompletion,thePortServereitherlogstheCDRrecordtothedatabase,orpassesthatdatabackto
theConnectionServerforit
tolog.
