BeyondAccountIdandPassword,therearesomeadditionalfieldsthatmayoptionallybepopulated,andareuseful
forstoringbusiness‐specificinformationforeachuser.TheseareCustomer,Source,andCDRInfo.Thesearefree‐
textfieldsthatarelimitedto64characterseach.Allthreearealsologgedtothe
BillingDbforeveryfaxsentor
receivedbytheaccount.
AccountTypes
Therearethreetypesofaccounts:
• Private(oneclient,sendandreceive)
• Sharedsend‐only(sharedbymultipleclients,sendonly)
• Load‐balancegroup(routereceivefaxestomultipleaccounts)
MostaccountswillbePrivate.Aprivateaccountcanonlyhaveoneclientloggedin,andhasthe
capabilityof
sendingandreceiving.
ASharedSend‐Onlyaccountcanhavemultipleclientsloggedin.Thesystemwillcreateatemporaryaccountfor
eachloggedinclientwhichwillbevisibleinthePortServerManager.Eachtemporaryaccountwillbedeleted
whenthatclientlogsout.
ALoad‐
Balancegroupisonlyavirtualaccounttype.Clientsdonotactuallylogintothisaccount.Instead,faxeswill
bedistributedtootheraccountsthataremembersofthisgroup.Howthosefaxesaredistributedisdeterminedby
thedeliverypolicy:
• Alternating(Round‐Robin):eachfaxwillbesent
toeachgroupmemberinturn.
• MostFreeSessions:theConnectionServerwillevaluatewhichaccounthasthemostfreesessions(the
differencebetweenthataccount’scurrentlyactivefaxesanditstotalreceivecapacity).
• Random:theConnectionServerwillsendeachfaxtoarandomgroupmember.
Routing
AnaccountcanhaveoneormoreDIDsassignedtoit.ADIDcanonlybeassignedtoasingleaccount,butbyusing
theFailoverorLoad‐BalanceGrouptheConnectionServercaninsurethatthefaxhasaclienttoreceiveit.
Failover/Alternate
APrivateorLoad‐balanceGroupaccountcanhaveanotheraccountassignedasfailover.Failoveroccurson
inboundfaxeswheneithertheaccountisnotloggedinortheloggedinclienthasnomorereceiveportsavailable.
Itisalsopossibletochainmultiplefailoveraccountstogethersothatif
thefirstaccountisunavailableitwilltrya
second,andifthesecondaccountisunavailableitwilltryathird,andsoon.
ForLoad‐balanceGroupsallgroupmembersmustbeunavailableoratcapacitybeforethegroup’sfailoveraccount
istried.Otherwise,failoverworksnormally.
