ConfiguringDNStoAllowOffSiteAccess
If it offsite users need to send faxes, typically all that is required is the fax domain be published in DNS.
Add an A record that points to the fax server’s public IP (for HTTP client access, see 3.1.2.2 Using HTTP
Clients over the Internet). Also add an MX record for the fax domain that points to your Exchange mail
server.
2.9.5EmailAddressing
Note that the FaxOut Client Suite adds buttons to Outlook that create addresses in the proper
formatautomatically.
2.9.5.1SMTPAddressFormat
The general address format for use with the SMTP email gateway is faxnumber@domain. For example,
to send to (503) 5550123 if the SMTP gateway’s domain is fax.company.com, the email address will be
5035550123@fax.company.com.
It is also possible to add a “display name” to put on the cover sheet. The format corresponds to the
standardSMTPdisplaynamesyntax:
'AnneAnderson'<5035550123@fax.company.com>.
